Honors for five Sonoma County baseball, softball teams

Five Sonoma County baseball and softball teams ended the prep season in ESPN.com/Cal-Hi Sports’ final rankings for Divisions 1-5.

The highest-ranking teams were Petaluma and St. Vincent de Paul’s softball teams.

St. Vincent (17-9) beat No. 13 College Prep for the Division 5 NCS title and finished the season ranked No.10.

Despite falling in the NCS title game to No. 5 Concord, Petaluma (24-4, the same record as the Minutemen) ended the season ranked No. 9 in Div. 2. Also in Div. 2, Rancho Cotate (21-3) earned a special mention.

Cardinal Newman’s baseball team (18-7), which lost to No. 1 overall Campolindo (23-4-1) in the North Coast Section playoffs, received a special mention in Division 2.

St. Vincent’s baseball team (22-4), which fell in the NCS Div. 5 semifinals to No. 8 Valley Christian of Dublin, ended the season ranked No. 11.
