SSU's Sather, Hull named to All-West Region volleyball teams


Sonoma State volleyball greats Ally Sather and Kelsey Hull have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-West Region teams.

Sather, a senior outside hitter from Maria Carrillo, was named to the AVCA/Daktronics Inc. All-West Region First Team. Hull, a sophomore outside hitter from Valley Springs, made honorable mention.

The Seawolves’ leader in kills, Sather totaled 1,498 in her career to become the program’s career record holder.

Sather also is one of Sonoma State’s top shot blockers.

Hull was third on Sonoma State in kills this season and also showed her value on defense with 253 digs.

Sonoma State opens its fifth straight NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship Tournament on Thursday.

The Seawolves, 22-8 overall, take on Western Washington (23-3), which captured the 2012 Great Northwest Athletic Conference title.

The NCAA West Regional Tournament will be held in Laie, Hawaii.
