Team featuring Santa Rosa grad falls in NCAA volleyball tournament

A Wichita State volleyball team featuring Santa Rosa High graduate Elizabeth Field saw its deep run into the NCAA volleyball tournament end Friday night with a loss to Southern California in Austin, Texas.

The Shockers (24-10) reached the Sweet 16 with an upset of in-state rivals and No. 11 seed Kansas but fell in three games to the No. 6-seeded Trojans, 25-20, 25-19, 25-17.

Field, a middle blocker, had six kills in Friday’s match to go with a pair of blocks.

In addition to Field, Maria Carrillo graduate Taylor Brownlee suits up for the Shockers.

Brownlee, an outside hitter, was The Press Democrat’s All-Empire large-school volleyball player of the year last fall as a senior with the Pumas.
