Mendo authorities seek more information in child sexual assault case

Mendocino County Sheriff's authorities are seeking help from the public with a child sexual assault investigation.

Juan Garcia Aguilar, 41, of Ukiah, was arrested Feb. 6 on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl during a family gathering in Talmage, just east of Ukiah.

Family members went looking for the girl, who'd disappeared from the gathering, and discovered the two in a garage, both partially unclothed.

Aguilar was arrested following an interview with the child. Further investigation determined Aguilar had committed various sexual acts on the child.

Anyone with information that could be helpful to the case is asked to call the Sheriff's tip line at 467-9159.
