Track and field: SRJC sending four to CCCAA state meet

Santa Rosa Junior College has four athletes in the California Community College Athletic Association state meet today and Saturday at San Mateo.

Coming off one of the program’s best seasons, Santa Rosa is led by Maria Carrillo graduate Alex Wolf-Root, ranked eighth in the state at 5,000 meters.

Qualifying in the men’s discus is Gary Randolph, from Healdsburg.

A hopeful in the women’s steeplechase is Atalie Halpin, from Rincon Valley Christian. Rounding out the bBear Cubs contingent is Rancho Cotate grade Cheri McLean, in the women’s pole vault.

Also competing in the meet is another familiar face to Empire track fans. Luis Luna, from Piner, is among the finalists in the 5,000 meters representing American River.
