Sonoma State’s Heller tied for 21st at NCAA DII women’s golf tournament


Sonoma State senior Spencer Heller carded her best round of the tournament with a 1-over 73 Friday, jumping nine spots into a tie for 21st with 18 holes to play at the 2013 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship Tournament at Daytona Beach, Fla.

The three-time All-American from Turlock, who has finished as high as eight in the national tournament has fired rounds of 78, 77 and 73 to total a 228 (+12) through the first 54 holes.

Heller, three strokes back of a possible Top 10 finish, trails tournament leader Linnea Johansson of Nova Southeastern (215; -1) by 13 shots.

The fourth and final round of the NCAA Championships is set for Saturday and will tee off at 5:30 a.m.
