Petaluma High School will be dedicating its tennis courts in honor of late tennis coach Sarah Wadsworth, who passed away in February 2012.

Wadsworth coached the Petaluma girls tennis team for seven years and also taught French at the school. The team was 48-0 in her four years as coach. She was posthumously named the Sonoma County League coach of the year in 2012.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Aug. 21 at 3:30 p.m.

SR UNITED U14 GIRLS WIN SURF CUP TITLE

The Santa Rosa United Under-14 girls soccer team won the Surf Cup soccer tournament at the Polo Grounds in Del Mar on Monday.

Also known as the Tremors, Santa Rosa United won the title game, 2-0, against a Southern California club team. Tremors captains Alyiah Shields and Jordan Girman scored in the final match. Tremors goalkeeper Megan Klee allowed only one goal in six matches in the tournament, Shields led the team with four goals.

FASTPITCH TEAM SET FOR NATIONAL EVENT

The Santa Rosa Fastpitch men's softball team begins play today in the 2013 North American Fastpitch Association A-Major world Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Santa Rosa team came out of the losers bracket a year ago and won five consecutive games on the final day of play to win the Class A world title, which meant an advancement this year to the A-Major level.

Among the returning players on the Santa Rosa roster for this year's tournament are Casey Hillman, Nick Green, Tom Dower, Casey Remy, Jabari Wimbs and brothers Brian and Danny Macler.

Brian Macler was the tournament MVP in 2012.

CRUSH WIN STATE, REGIONALS

The Sonoma County Crush over-50 men's traveling slow-pitch softball team won the Senior Softball USA California State Championship in early July and followed that by grabbing the Western National Championship crown this past weekend in Sacramento.

The Crush defeated the North State Xtreme for the state title and the Stanislaus Sluggers 16-13 for the regional crown.

The unsponsored squad will now play in the Las Vegas World Masters in Las Vegas Oct. 4-6.
