PD Preps Week 1 Football Rankings

1. Analy (1-0)

Beat a team ranked No. 51 in the state (Pittsburg) on opening night and did it handily. Great job by the defense in holding high-powered visitors to 7 points in the first half.

2. Casa Grande (1-0)

Quarterback JaJuan Lawson and running back John Porchivina are the main cogs in the Redwood Empire’s best backfield.

3. Cardinal Newman (1-0)

Cardinals got a little sloppy after building big lead at Modesto Christian. Showed plenty of promise up to that point.

4. Windsor (1-0)

Props for rallying from a 22-point deficit to defeat host Granada. Jaguars went 80 yards in final 1:20 to win, 39-36.

5. Santa Rosa (1-0)

Panthers scored on first four possessions in opener at Petaluma. Quarterback Vince Jones and running back Jahi Hayes will put a lot of points on the scoreboard this season.

1. St. Helena (1-0)

Saints went to Tomales and left town with a 20-0 win. It’s not easy beating the Braves on their home field. Tomales’ home record over last four years now 14-4.

2. Middletown (0-0)

Mustangs open at powerhouse Salesian on Saturday afternoon.

3. Fort Bragg (1-0)

Despite losing 17 seniors from the NCL I championship team of 2012, the Timberwolves opened the season with a 20-7 win at McKinleyville.

4. St. Vincent (1-0)

Prior to defeating St. Bernard’s, 26-0, last Saturday, Mustangs hadn’t won a game in Humboldt County since 2000.

5. Lower Lake (0-0)

Trojans have been impressive in preseason scrimmages under new head coach Justin Gaddy. They open Friday night against San Francisco Marshall.
