For the first time in 18 years, the SRJC football team has not played all its regular season games on Saturday. Friday night’s game against Butte was the third and last SRJC home game to be played on a Friday this season.

“Playing on Friday night works for a couple of reasons,” said SRJC head coach Lenny Wagner. “It gives us a chance to scout our next opponent on Saturday. It’s one less day of work for our SRJC support staff, which saves us money. And we make more money on a Friday night than we do on a Saturday.

“People really seem to like Friday football. We’ve had an awesome response.”

Because SRJC still has four Saturday games this season, Wagner said he and his coaching staff still have four opportunities to evaluate local high school players who mostly play Friday nights.
