Soccer: Sonoma State falls to Seattle Pacific in NCAA tournament

Seattle Pacific put an end to the Sonoma State women’s soccer season Thursday night in Belllingham, Wash., by defeating the Seawolves, 1-0, in the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament Western Regional.

The lone goal came in the 54th minute when Hannah Huesers took a pass from Kaylie Winston and tapped the ball past Sonoma State goalie Allison Hadidian.

The Seawolves were the aggressors throughout and outshot Seattle Pacific, 16-9. Falcon goalie Natalie Harold made nine saves while Hadidian was tested only three times.

Cara Curtin led the Seawolves’ offense with three shots on goal. The other scoring attempts were by: Lauren Curtin, Margi Osmundson, Kristal Luna, Melissa LaFranchi, Lauren Fryer and Alicia Mertz.

The Seawolves end the season with a 13-5-3 record while Seattle Pacific, 15-5-1, moves on to Saturday’s section final against host Western Washington.
