Empire prep cross country standouts competing in the college ranks finished strong seasons.

Here are the 2013 cross country season highlights:

Sarah Sumpter, UC Davis, senior, Healdsburg: NCAA Div. I West Regional, 30th; Big West championships, 8th.

Reesey Byers, Sacramento State, senior, Santa Rosa: NCAA Div. I West Regional, 24th; Big Sky Championships, 24th

Alex Conner, Yale, sophomore, Sonoma Valley: NCAA Div. 1 Northeast Regional, 57th; Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, 26th

Brian King, Georgetown, senior, Cardinal Newman: NCAA Div. 1 Mid-Atlantic Regional, 13th; Big East Championships, 13th

Paul Holden, Connecticut, freshman, Ukiah: NCAA Div. 1 Northeast Regional, 93rd; American Athletic Conference Championships, 29th

Forrest Shaffer, Washington State, sophomore, Petaluma: NCAA Div. I West Regional, 53rd; Pac-12 Championships, 47th
