Casa Grande’s John Porchivina announced Sunday on Twitter that he has committed to the University of California.

Porchivina, who starred at running back and linebacker for the Gauchos, originally committed to Fresno State, but he tweeted Sunday morning, “I have decided to flip my commitment THE university of California… #gobears #Calgang”.

Porchivina, the 2013 North Bay League Back of the Year, rushed for 1,681 yards and 20 touchdowns for the Gauchos this past season. He averaged 8.99 yards per carry and 120.1 yards per game. He also had 321 receiving yards with five touchdown receptions.

Porchivina also excelled on defense, totaling 87 tackles (15 for loss), 11 sacks, three interceptions and four forced fumbles from his linebacker position.
