Montgomery High graduate Kim Conley ran away from the field Saturday to win the women’s 3,000 meters at the Millrose Games indoor track and field championships in New York City.

Conley, a U.S. Olympian and former UC Davis star, raced to a huge early lead. She ran alongside the pace-setter as the rest of the field lagged far behind.

Conley was on pace to set a Millrose Games record, before slowing to finish with a personal best time of 8 minutes, 48.35 seconds.

Conley was never challenged in setting her personal record.

Betsy Saina did finish in 8:50.60. Margherita Magnani was third in 8:51.91.
