Barrel auction will donate part of funds

The nation's largest pinot noir barrel auction, Hospices of Sonoma, announced that a portion of the proceeds from its fourth annual auction will be donated to The Children's Village of Sonoma County.

Funds will help build a second grandparents triplex on the campus in southeast Santa Rosa.

"This is a real shot in the arm for our fund-raising efforts to build this critical part of our campus," said Lia Rowley, founder and executive director of The Children's Village.

This year's event will be April 21 at the Warren G. Dutton Agriculture Pavilion on the Shone Farm Campus of Santa Rosa Junior College in Forestville.

In 2006, the Hospices of Sonoma Pinot Noir Barrel Auction raised $350,000 for charity, making it the largest Pinot Noir barrel auction in the nation.
