Swimming: Montgomery boys, girls top Newman

The Montgomery boys and girls swimming teams defeated rival Cardinal Newman on Friday night at Santa Rosa Junior College.

The girls beat the Cardinals 106-64, while the boys finished with a 94-79 win over Cardinal Newman. Jenna Bauer led the Vikings’ girls with two first-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-freestyle.

Bauer also took part in the girls’ 200-yard medley relay, with Eva Ratcliff, Angelica and Theresa Nowack, a race which the group won.

Nowack also took first place in the 200-yard individual medley relay, while her sister Angelica won the 100-yard butterfly.

Montgomery’s Quinn Kezer won the 100-yard backstroke and the butterfly to lead the boys, while Sean Patrick Kelley took first place in the 400-freestyle for the Vikings. Montgomery’s Max Bonta won the 100-breastroke, as well.
