Boys soccer roundup: Santa Rosa beats Cardinal Newman 2-0

Andres Garcia and Eric Leon each scored an unassisted goal as Santa Rosa High opened the NBL season Tuesday night with a 2-0 victory over Cardinal Newman.

Both goals came in the second half.

“We came out flat but warmed up after halftime,” Panthers coach Antonio Garcia said.

RANCHO COTATE 1, WINDSOR 0

At Rohnert Park, Kai Dooley scored on a header and goalkeeper Danny Ortiz picked up the shutout as the Cougars won their league opener.

ANALY 2, HEALDSBURG 0

At Sebastopol, Ivan Galvan scored both goals as the Tigers remained unbeaten in the SCL. Uriel Sanchez assisted on one of the goals. Keeper Omar Coronel got credit for the shutout.

ELSIE ALLEN 4, SONOMA VALLEY 0

At Elsie Allen, the Lobos scored all their goals in the second overtime.

PINER 4, EL MOLINO 1

At Piner, the Prospectors scored four times in the second half to pick up their first league win.

Scoring the goals were: Juan Hernandez, Juan Ceja, Junior Pardo and Paulino Garfias.

FORT BRAGG 7, LOWER LAKE 3

At Lower Lake, Angel Mendoza and Jesus Gaona each scored two goals.

WILLITS 3, MIDDLETOWN 0

At Middletown, goalkeepers Nick Johnson and Cris Arreguin shared in the shutout.

Alejandro Lara led the offense with two goals with Juan Jacinto getting the other score.
