Anderson Valley played its best game of the year, but it wasn’t quite good enough as San Francisco Waldorf captured the CIF NorCal Division 6 championship Tuesday night in Albany.

The Panthers prevailed in the first two games but then lost three in a row. The scores were 19-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-11 and 15-11.

Alex Farber led the way with 12 kills while Riley Lemons had 23 assists and Lisset Eligio had a team-high 20 digs.

Waldorf enjoyed a height advantage across the front line with three 6-footers. “It was difficult to compete against their height,” assistant coach Mike McDonald said.

“In the end, it was their offensive barrage that we couldn’t overcome,” he said. McDonald was filling in for head coach Alyssa Schafer.

It was the second time in 10 days that Waldorf defeated Anderson Valley. The schools met in the NCS Division 6 finals and the Wolverines won in straight sets.

“Obviously, we played them much better this time,” McDonald said. “It was our best game of the season.

“The girls are disappointed, but they played as hard as they could and walked out of the gym with their heads high.
