Girls basketball: West Coast Jamboree tips off Saturday

Starting Saturday, six of the eight NBL girls basketball teams plus five NCL teams will be competing in the West Coast Jamboree at various Bay Area gyms.

There are 16 divisions and Redwood Empire teams will be represented in nine of those: Cardinal Newman and Point Arena in games at Ygnacio Valley; Montgomery at Bentley; Santa Rosa, Cloverdale and St. Helena at Freedom; Analy and Casa Grande at Alhambra; Willits at Berean Christian; Windsor at Las Positos, and Ukiah at College Park.

It’s one of a handful of tournaments on tap. There will be three tournaments in Sonoma County starting Monday and ending on New Year’s Eve — the Sonoma County Classic for boys at Piner, Windsor Holiday Shootout for boys and the Rincon Valley Tournament with divisions for boys and girls.

Here is the schedule for the first round of the West Coast Jamboree:

Montgomery vs. San Lorenzo at Bentley School, Oakland, 11 a.m.

Casa Grande vs. Chico at Alhambra High, Martinez, 12:30 p.m.

Cloverdale vs. Sierra at Freedom High, Oakley, 12:30 p.m.

Santa Rosa vs. Christian Brothers at Freedom High, 3:30 p.m.

Point Arena vs. Holy Names at Ygnacio Valley High, Concord, 3:30 p.m.

Willits vs. Oakland Military Institute at Berean Christian High, Walnut Creek, 3:30 p.m.

Windsor vs. Fresno at Las Positas College, Livermore, 3:30 p.m.

Analy vs. McKinleyville at Alhambra High, 5 p.m.

Ukiah vs. Crater at College Park High, Pleasant Hill, 5 p.m.

Cardinal Newman vs. Sacramento at Ygnacio Valley, 8 p.m.

St. Helena vs. Los Banos at Freedom High, 8 p.m.
