Analy tops Sonoma Valley, reaches SCL tournament final


Crystal Gevas banged out three hits as Analy defeated Sonoma Valley, 6-2, on Wednesday to advance to the championship game of the SCL Tournament.

The Tigers will visit Petaluma today with the tourney title on the line.

With the score 2-2 in the fourth, Gevas scored what turned out to be the winning run.After reaching base on a single, she scored later following two throwing errors by Sonoma.

In the next inning, the junior also had a key hit as her team scored three insurance runs.

“She’s an all-around good kid,” Analy coach Nick Houtz said. “She’s a hard worker. Last year, she played the outfield and this season she started out at second and then moved over to first.”

Analy finished with nine hits. MacKenzie Evangelisti collected two of those.

Erin Atkinson knocked in both Sonoma runs.

The Dragons are 15-10, the same record as Analy.


At Cloverdale, Teanne Edens struck out 15 and the Eagles finished in a tie with Clear Lake for the NCL I title.

Edens reached two milestones. She surpassed 200 strikeouts in a season and 500 in her career.

The senior was also the offensive star as she blasted two home runs.

Cloverdale will travel to Clear Lake on Saturday for a game to decide which team will get an automatic invitation to next week’s NCS Tournament.
