Rylee Bowen, the defending CIF Div. 5 state cross country champion who will be a sophomore at Sonoma Academy in the fall, has been named to the USA Track & Field youth national team that will compete in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia, on July 15-19.

Bowen qualified in both the 1500 meters and the 2000-meter steeplechase but was invited to compete in the steeplechase only. Her qualifying time of 6:41 set at the USATF World Youth Track & Field Trials in Lisle, Ill., on Tuesday set a national record for freshmen and established a new California state record.
