KELSEYVILLE 2 injured as driver rolls car into vineyard

A Lake County man suspected of driving drunk rolled his car into a Kelseyville vineyard Sunday night, resulting in serious injuries to him and a passenger, the CHP said Monday.

CHP officers arrested driver Nelson Hernandez, 24, of the Kelseyville-area community of Finley.

Hernandez had been driving his 2003 Mitsubishi Galant, heading south on Highland Springs Road at about 8:25 p.m. Sunday.

Hernandez was speeding and intoxicated, the CHP said.

North of Rodello Road, the car veered into the opposite lane, drove off the road and rolled multiple times.

Hernandez was flown to UC Davis Medical Center with moderate injuries. Passenger Brian Vasquez, also of Finley, was flown to Enloe Hospital in Chico with major injuries.
