Molly Hannis finishes sixth in world at international meet in South Korea

The Santa Rosa High grad was just short of a podium finish at the World University Games Wednesday.|

Molly Hannis finished sixth in the world in the 200-meter breaststroke final Wednesday morning the World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea.

Hannis, a Santa Rosa High School grad and a recent graduate of the University of Tennessee, touched the wall just 1.3 seconds away from a top-three podium finish.

She qualified for the final with the fifth-fastest time in the semifinal heats after winning her preliminary heat the previous day.

Hannis clocked in at 2 minutes, 28.67 seconds in Wednesday’s final. Japan swept the top two positions with Keiko Fukodome (2:24.92) and Aoki Reona (2:26.17).
